Coil Cleaning in Kansas City, MO

What a dirty evaporator coil actually costs you
The coil loads from the entering-air side first. Airflow drops. The slab runs colder than designed. Ice forms on the fins, then melts off-cycle and overruns the drain pan. That water lands on the furnace directly below it. Rusted heat exchanger, a tripped float switch, stained drywall in a finished basement ceiling. The compressor works against high head pressure every run hour.
Access is half the job. The A-coil sits in the plenum above the furnace. On 1960s-80s installs that plenum is often fiberglass ductboard with no cut-in panel. One gets opened and resealed with mastic and foil tape. Duct tape fails there within a season.
Local loading is specific. Ragweed and tree pollen come in through return drops. Basement laundry lint gets pulled into panned joist and stud-cavity returns, then packs the first inch of fin. Drywall dust from basement finishing is worse. It sets up hard once condensate hits it.
Cleaning means a foaming product safe for aluminum, then a low-pressure rinse. Pressure washers bend fin stock permanently. The pan and condensate trap get flushed separately; biofilm there is usually the odor source, not the coil.
Check your own filter slot. Light haze on the fins is normal. A gray mat is not.
What happens after you call us
- 1
Call and tell us the age of the house and how many furnaces run it. We give you a two hour arrival window and the name of the tech coming to you.
- 2
We walk the basement or attic runs, count supply and return drops, and hand you a firm quote. Trunk size and register count drive the number, not square footage.
- 3
We seal the system, pull the lines, test airflow at each register, and vacuum up behind ourselves. You pay the quoted number, nothing added.
